How our Coating Process Works

Plasma has invested heavily in its in-house capabilities to fabricate parts and tooling as well as perform various pre and post processing required such as surface prep, repairs, coating removal, and more. We can process in excess of 10,000 parts per month on one product line. We have experience in machining and processing all types of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, refractory/platinum group metals, graphite, composites, and more. We have provided many services utilizing wire EDM (including rotary), mills, lathes, 5-axis, grinders, creating finished build-to-print (B2P) machined parts and assemblies. Our team is ready to provide a one-stop-shop to provide a full turnkey product or assembly to our customers.

Equipment

Plasma has invested a significant amount of money in equipment and capability across 30 years, with recent expansion emphasis on precision machining. We have a 5 axis DMG Mori-DMY 85 monoBLOCK, 10+ EDM’s (Wire Agie with rotary ability, Wire Mitsubishis and more), CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, centerless grinders, and more.

Plasma Spray (VPS)
Vacuum Plasma Spray offers the following advantages over conventional atmospheric plasma process:
  • Broader and longer spray jets
  • Cleaner interfaces through reverse transfer arc sputter cleaning
  • Oxide-free coatings
  • High coating densities (close to theoretical)
  • Low residual stresses
  • Increased deposition thickness capability (>25mm or 1 inch)
  • High substrate/deposit preheating capability
Cold Spray
Vacuum Plasma Spray offers the following advantages over conventional atmospheric plasma process:

  • Cleaner interfaces through reverse transfer arc sputter cleaning
  • Oxide-free coatings
  • High coating densities (close to theoretical)
  • Low residual stresses
  • Increased deposition thickness capability (>25mm or 1 inch)
  • High substrate/deposit preheating capability
