What we do for Space Exploration
Plasma has been serving the space, deep space, and space exploration markets for 30+ years. We provided the closest human made object to the sun with our coating that has been applied to the Parker Solar Probe. In addition, we have put 100’s of thrusters into space on satellites, coated 100’s of rocket launch engines for major space companies and lastly, spun off our own ASCENT based product line of thrusters and propulsion systems for cis-lunar, GEO, refueling, and other mission scenarios for satellites. Whether you want coatings for your electric propulsion system, rocket engines, heat shields, or actual components for your own thrusters, or a full propulsion system for your satellite, Plasma/Rubicon is here to provide these to you. Please reach out for more information!
Plasma is the supplier who provided the closest human-made object to the sun where we applied the JHUAPL developed coating to the Parker Solar Probe Heat Shield. Plasma has provided hundreds of thrusters that have flown in space across multiple propellant types and customers, including government. This led to our creation of our propulsion division, Rubicon Space Systems and the product line focused on ASCENT propellant. We have been on the ISS through the MISSE program where Plasma Processes provided radiation shielding for protection against galactic cosmic rays, solar energetic particles and secondary neutrons. Durability samples, mounted for passive exposure on the International Space Station, have been tested and proven successful in protection against radiation. Our coatings and propulsion components can make your systems last longer and go further for multiple cis-lunar, deep space, LEO, MEO, and GEO mission sets.
Plasma has been a trusted partner to the space industry for over 30 years, delivering advanced coating technologies and propulsion solutions for a wide range of mission profiles. We have supported leading launch vehicle providers with specialized coatings for propulsion components, ensuring durability and performance in extreme environments. Our capabilities extend to electric propulsion systems and innovative concepts such as green propellant dual-mode (GPDM) and hybrid propulsion technologies. With proven expertise in extending component life and enabling missions from LEO to deep space, we are committed to driving the next generation of space systems. Contact us to collaborate on thruster development, shielding solutions, ASCENT-based propulsion systems, or other advanced space technologies.
Radiation Shielding
Plasma Processes provides radiation shields for protection against galactic cosmic rays, solar energetic particles and secondary neutrons. Durability samples, mounted for passive exposure on the International Space Station, have been tested on Materials International Space Station Experiments (MISSE) 6.
Deep Space Exploration
Plasma has the ability to protect satellite electronics, propulsion systems, and personnel from radiation and thermal issues during deep space exploration, as proven on the ISS through the MISSE effort and other previous programs.
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Other Orbit
Plasma provides shielding within LEO for satellites and hypersonic vehicles.
Within Atmosphere
Plasma provides radiation and EMI shielding for containers, boxes, vehicles, and other products within atmosphere based on different agency and customer requirements.
